Calcium carbonate sachet contains: Calcium Carbonate B.P. 2.5 g (equivalent to 1000 mg of Calcium) and Cholecalciferol B.P. (Vitamin D3) 400 I.U. Calcium is the fifth most abundant element in the body, with the majority of this present in the skeletal system (bone). Adequate calcium intake is particularly important periods of bone growth in both children and adolescents, as well as during pregnancy and lactation. An adequate supply is usually necessary for adults (especially those over 40 years of age) to prevent a negative calcium balance which may contribute to the development of osteoporosis. As calcium supplementation for conditions of increasing requirements such as growth spurts, adolescence, pregnancy and lactation, post-menopausal stages, calcium and vitamin D-combined deficiencies. Cholecalciferol (Vitamin D3) is integral for optimal calcium absorption from stomach as well as regulating functions of calcium in the body. Cholecalciferol is used to prevent and/or treat various conditions caused by deficiency of vitamin D, especially conditions of skin and bones.
